Why I decided on the name Embracing Healthy:
When I received a POTS diagnosis in 2013, all the health swaps I had to make felt forced and were overwhelming! Not only was I experiencing shooting abdominal pains, migraines, and frequently passing out, I felt sick almost every time I ate. I felt defeated, frustrated, and hopeless. My friends were applying to colleges and eating the standard American diet. Meanwhile, I was needing homebound instruction and having to learn an entire new way of life.
Making healthy swaps is a good thing, sure, but I didn’t feel I had a choice in the matter. Add to that very difficult to track food reactions, I couldn’t even eat simple foods like banana or avocado without feeling sick. I saw A LOT of different specialists and did A LOT of different treatments over the course of seven years before making a remarkable recovery.
Along the way, despite all the frustrations, I started to enjoy eating healthy and working out. These are now passions of mine. Living a healthy lifestyle is something I hold close with affection. I love it. I experience joy from it. I embrace it.
We all have different stories. Some people are like me and feel forced into a healthy lifestyle. Others simply want to make decisions to live a stronger, healthier life. Wherever you are in your journey, I hope we can learn to EMBRACE a healthy lifestyle together!
